| How
should I prepare for my appointment? |
To
plan your schedule, please expect that an initial
or complete exam takes 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Be sure to bring
the following with you: (1) List of all medications
presently taken. (2) Present glasses and contact lenses.
(3) If required, an insurance referral form from your
primary care doctor. Both eyes are dilated for complete
exams, retinal evaluations and some other types of procedures.
Dilation causes a sensitivity to light and an inability
to see things well at close range, like words on a page.
For these reasons, some patients prefer to have someone
to drive them home.
| Does
Atlantic Eye Physicians take my insurance? |
We are a participating provider on Medicare and
most other insurance companies. If you have questions
regarding your specific plan, feel free to contact our
office.
Medicare and most other insurance
companies will not pay for a refraction fee.
This is an out of pocket cost to the patient (currently
$39.00).
All HMO patients must
have a referral from their primary care physician for
a medical examination. We do expect payment of any deductible
and co-payment amounts at time of service.
If financial problems arise,
please call our billing department. We will work with
you to make arrangements that are mutually agreeable.
| What
should I do if I have an eye emergency? |
Our
physicians are on call every day. Please call
us immediately if you have an emergency. After normal
business hours our answering service will page the doctor
who will return your call. If your call is not returned
within minutes, consider going to your Emergency Room.
